Depict Textual Analysis

The final part for the depict assignment is to demonstrate your undestanding of he technical conventions of moving images by exploring the following shots and camera techniquies.

Camera Use

During the final moments of the baby sitter before the nethpew is thrown we illustrated the awkwardness of the situation by mikey holding the baby at arms legnth. As well as this we set the shot distance up as a long shot to portray mikeys desire to get as far away from the baby as possible.



Somthing I think I really struggled with when I was filming this was that the difference between the tripod mounted shots I took where vastly less shaky than the shots I took with my hands I feel like I need to practise with my ways of the Samuri.



Editing

When Setting up the flashbacks in "The Babysitter" we used a flash to white which sets up the pretence of the flashback.

When we where using continuity during the filming for the baby raising scene before the nethew is sick we where able to keep to the 180 degree rule throughout. an example of this would be the final confrontation between mikey and the nephew.


As well as this I'm proud to say that the previous continutiy error in our last project "MIKEY!!!" was avoided this time as we made sure the camera didn't reflect itself into any shots.

Sound

I had a massive issuse with some of the sound quality in my video particulaly the voice of matt down the phone to mikey I think its obviously dubbed in nature really impeeds on your focus to the film.


Msie-en-scene and lighting


All the lighting in the film was natural ambience I think this might not have always been such a good idea theres somthing about lighted shots that sometimes feels more vibraent and alive next time I make a production I will be sure to try and incorperate this to the picture.

The use of the baby doll I felt a better representation of the evil nepthew than mikeys genuine nepthew ever could. It would have made production much more difficult to do. And although would have given more shock value to throwing scene at the end it would have made the subject of the story much darker and made the more humorus elements like the sick scene less impactive.
